Initially being hell bent on studying Law, Jenna found herself persuing a fulltime career in music which lead to her composing and recording her first track off the Scarlet Box debut album before writing her first matric exam paper at Sutherland High School in Centurion.
Having been actively involved with drama at school, she was adamant that she wanted to form her own rock band, and did not want to persue a musical career as a “solo artist”.
Jenna hooked up with producer Jon Buckley in 2003 to write and record twelve new tracks for the Scarlet Box debut album, to be released shortly.
Jenna’s musical influences include Courtney Love, Nirvana, Silver Chair, Pearl Jam and Skunk Anansie.
Having such an admiration for Courtney Love, it is rather ironic that Jenna has been referred to as Courtney Love, “with talent”.
To quote another USA based musician, Brendan H Esq, "I was knocked out when I first heard the haunting quality of Jenna's voice, which is an animal all unto itself. Some of my friends compare it to, ahem, Courtney Love, but Courtney could never sing in an almost neo-classical way like this girl can. Her projection and tone is perfect for the brand of rock she plays.
I have but one bit of advice for Scarlet Box: forget and ignore all the things that surround rock and roll, just play your music, play wherever and whenever you can, play for yourselves, and the rest will follow, the fans, money, all that boring stuff. Keep it evil"
