1. What's the story behind how the band formed?

I started the band fresh out of matric(6 years ago). i had written the whole of the first album, and recorded it with session muso's, and needed a band to support it. So I rallied

Jitka first, whom I was friends with from school, and over the years, other musicians have come and gone, but we are now secure with Wilkie and Luci.

 2. Who are the members and what instruments do they play?

Myself, (Jenna) on Vocals and Guitar, Jitka on Bass, Wilkie on Lead Guitar and Lucille on Drums.

 3. Where'd you play your first live gig and what was that experience like?

We played for the first time at Roxy's in Melville 5 years ago, and I quote Jitka, "It was the worst experience ever, almost like a rollercoaster, I thought, "I never ever want to do that again!"...haha.

 4. What kinds of challenges have you guys had to face/overcome in order to get where you are today?

Well working with arrogant hob knobs in the industry has been the biggest challenge for me, everyone seems to walk around saying they know what theyre doing, and they can make you famous, yet the only people who know how to do that best is the band themself.

 5. Advice for upstarts?

Trust your instinct. You know whats best for yourself and your band, you do not need some music industry "guru" to tell you that. ALso, hire your own soundman, make him the 5th member of your band!

 6. What's going on with the band today:

6a) New releases - what can we expect? How's it different from past releases?

We released our 2nd album 'And the rest of us die out" in June this year, the album is a mature version of the past Scarlet Box, a Scarlet Box where we were very confused about where we were and what we were trying to achieve. We're alot more certain now.

 7. Where to from here? What's the five month, five year plan?

We begin to write our 3rd album now in the new year, and are perhaps (and i mean perhaps) looking to bring in another band member, on Synths eg.

Music is constantly evolving, and we must too.

 8. Define your genre as you see it?

Rock 'n Roll, Bite your Tongue, Drink a Beer, looks like fun!

 9. What can people who've never heard your stuff expect:

9a) from listening to you CDs?

We've tried to add alot of variety on to our album, we go from hard upbeat songs, to soft slow ballads, We've tried to write something for everyone.

 9b) from attending one of your shows?

Expect alot of action. I like to sing loud and get my point across. Jitka likes to feel the music, so jumping is a definite. Wilkie likes to involve people, so dont think you can sit and watch from afar. And Luci is so much dynamite packed into a tiny package, you simply cannot disregard her. All together makes for a fun show.

 10. Where’d you play your last gig and what was that experience like?

In reference to Question 3. We played at a venue(Not to be mentioned), where the sound man doing our sound, resembled my 4 year old niece trying to build a 5000 piece puzzle.
